A trapezoid of ochre tilts against a field of white. This is Colored Paper Images I, from the series of the same name.
Kelly cut the paper by hand, leaving the deckled edge visible. The ochre shape is neither centered nor flush; it hovers just above the bottom margin, casting a faint shadow that grounds it. The white ground feels vast, though the sheet is modest in size.
Hang it above a pale wood console, where the ochre can echo a ceramic vase or a stack of art books.
