Composition 16

Composition 16 uses a set of geometric shapes arranged across the surface. Sonia Delaunay often worked with bright colour planes and curved forms in her painting practice. The picture keeps the tones balanced so one plane sits against another without crowding the field. You see the clear outlines and the flat colour areas read as separate steps.

The item is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. That simple construction holds the image flat and the back panel adds a stable edge when it is hung.

It fits a study wall above a desk. From the chair the shapes stay clear, and the lamp near the shelf gives a steady fall of light across the surface.
