Composition N. 11 London with Blue, Red and Yellow

Black lines cross Composition N. 11 London with Blue, Red and Yellow to divide the surface into flat shapes. Piet Mondrian uses no curve or shadow, only straight edges and solid colour. The blocks stay separate, with no blend between one tone and the next.

The fine art frame matches the wall by tone instead of standing apart from it. A pale frame on a dark wall lets the blue and red rectangles stay forward, while a wood frame beside timber furniture keeps the look quiet.

In a narrow hallway the grid reads from the far end, and the red block catches the light first. Closer to the door the yellow shape sits beside the blue, and the black lines stay sharp against the plaster.
