About this work
Copse of the Banks of the Garonne 1900 shows trees along a river with small strokes of green and blue. The painting belongs to Henri Matisse wider work from the turn of the century, when he painted outdoors and used bright flat colour.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. The paper is matte, so the soft greens stay flat and the painted marks do not glare under a lamp.
Above a low shelf the picture sits near the top of the wall. From a few steps back you see the tree line and the water line as one wide band. Closer you notice the small strokes of paint on the leaves.
