Corner of Quarry opens on a rocky place cut into the ground, with stone and thin trees set in layered planes. Paul Cézanne built the ground from separate patches of paint, a late nineteenth century practice that leaves the quarry edge quiet and direct.

The grey and brown tones stay low and unhurried. A fine art print keeps those patches distinct on matte paper, so the stone tones do not catch a lamp and wash out.

The frame finish can match the room: a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. It hangs on a stairwell wall where the eye moves step by step, and from below the quarry edge and the small trees hold the same quiet tone.
