Curtain, Jug and Fruit — Fine Art

Curtain, Jug and Fruit shows a cloth draped over a table beside a jug and a few fruit pieces. The cloth folds into soft planes and the fruit sits in those same planes. Paul Cézanne worked in oils with short separate brushstrokes and built forms from patches of colour rather than lines.

The fine art print uses matte paper so the colour patches stay flat and the light falls evenly across the surface. A light frame sits on a dark wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture, and the frame finish follows the room instead of fighting it.

On a kitchen wall near the cooker, the cloth and jug read as simple blocks first, then the fruit catches the light. From the doorway you see the drape and the jug, close to the table you notice the separate strokes.
