David Hockney by David Hockney — Fine Art

David Hockney by David Hockney uses the bright, flat colour fields and clean outlines the artist is known for. The picture shows a figure or scene built from simple shapes and strong contrasts, with paint laid in smooth, even layers. The image reads as a clear composition built on bright tones and simplified form.

This fine art print sits in a white frame that gives the picture a clean edge on the wall. The white finish keeps the bright colours open and lets the outline of the image stand apart from the room around it.

It works on a kitchen wall where morning light falls across it. From the breakfast table you notice the flat colour blocks first, then the simple line work when you step closer.
