Deep Blue and Black — Fine Art

Deep Blue and Black by Sam Francis shows a dark field with a heavy blue mass and a sharp black edge. The marks sit close together and push against the open space around them.

Sam Francis painted on sheets laid flat, working with open colour and broad strokes. The fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel. It stays flat on the wall and the deep tones do not glare under a bulb.

The image lines up near the top of the frame so the dark area holds the eye. It works well on a bedroom wall above the mattress. From the doorway you notice the black line first, then the blue mass behind it.
