About this work
Dodges Ridge 1947 by Andrew Wyeth shows a dry hillside with a few small trees and a pale sky. The ground is mostly pale brown and grey, with darker lines for the fence and the ridge line. The picture reads as quiet and open, with one flat colour band set against another.
This fine art print uses matte paper, so the soft earth tones stay even under a lamp and there is no shine on the page.
It works on a hallway wall by the stairs, where the long walkway keeps the ridge line in view as you pass. From the landing you notice the pale ground and the darker fence marks, and the frame edge sits clean against the plaster.
