About this work
Double Elvis - 1990 reads as a painted field built from sharp rectangular forms. Peter Halley paints these cells in bright reds and blues that sit against a dark ground.
The shapes repeat and stack, so the surface feels built rather than drawn. The work belongs to the geometric painting of the late twentieth century. A metal hanger is fitted to the back, so it goes straight onto a nail or screw.
You do not need a separate frame. Put this fine art print on the stairwell wall where the steps cut across the view. From the landing you see the hard edges clearly, and the red shapes stand out against the wood.
