Duo H 1966

Duo H 1966 uses two colours side by side to test how one shade changes the other. Josef Albers made this kind of comparison a central part of his work. The squares sit flat against each other, with no outline between them.

The fine art print uses a matte sheet so the two tones stay even and the surface does not catch a glare under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall keeps the edges quiet, and the frame finish can follow the room instead of drawing attention to itself.

It hangs on a hallway wall beside a coat rack. From the landing you see the two blocks spread across the surface. Under the ceiling light the flat colours hold their contrast without pulling focus.
