About this work
Eye Benches II 1997 places two rounded forms beside the narrow edge of a bench. The shapes are smooth and wide, built from repeated strokes. The work belongs to Louise Bourgeois and carries her sculptural eye motif into a flat picture. The forms read as solid and watchful.
A fine art print carries the image on matte paper, so the flat tones stay even and the eye shapes do not catch a hard shine. The frame finish can follow the room.
At the end of a hallway, the rounded forms catch light from a ceiling lamp. From the door you see the smooth shapes and the bench edge. The eye motif stays readable from that distance, quiet and steady.
