Flowers in a Blue Vase 1 — Fine Art

Flowers in a Blue Vase 1 shows a gathered set of blooms held by a blue container. The petals and leaves sit in loose patches of tone, with some edges left open. A soft ground behind the flowers keeps the eye on the shapes. This is a print made in the fine art method.

The white frame finish gives the picture a clean edge on the wall. That edge separates the blooms from the plaster around them. The finish also reads as plain against the blue vase, so the vase stays the first thing you notice.

In a hallway with pale paint, the blue vase stands out when you pass the turn. From the landing you see the whole bunch, and in the corner of the eye the open petal shapes hold still.
