About this work
A word sits in the centre of the picture in Forbidden Literature the Use of the Word 1936. The rest of the image stays open and quiet around it. Rene Magritte often painted letters and objects in a plain field, so the eye rests on the text before moving anywhere else.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy.
In a study room, the letters sit on a side wall away from the desk. From the chair you read the word first, then notice the empty space on either side. The matte paper keeps the painted letters from shining under a lamp.
