About this work
Forest Undergrowth I 1916 shows tangled stems and shadow under a stand of trees. The leaves press close across the lower part of the sheet.
The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. Tom Thomson worked with quick brush lines here. The paper is matte, so the dark greens stay dull and the small marks stay clear.
A metal hanger is fitted to the back, and the sheet goes straight onto a nail without a frame. It sits above a desk close to a window. From the chair you read the branches first, and the thin lines come into view when you step closer.
