Free Spirit - 1991 by Ronnie Landfield sits on the sheet as a loose field of colour with a few broken painted lines. The marks move across the surface without a hard edge.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The colour stays open, with room between the shapes. The picture belongs to the colour field painting practice that grew out of abstract painting in the middle of the twentieth century.

The white frame gives the picture a clean edge against the colours, so the lines do not fight the finish. The wood frame gives the same picture a warmer edge that sits closer to the paint. You see the breaks in the lines more clearly when the frame is dark wood.
