About this work
Fugue 2003 shows thin pencil lines and soft ink tones arranged in a loose, looping form. The marks shift across the page without a strict pattern. Louise Bourgeois often used drawing to work through a feeling rather than a fixed subject.
The fine art print sits on matte paper, so the grey tones stay flat and the light parts do not shine back under a lamp. A light frame lets the pale tones sit quietly against a darker room wall.
It hangs on a narrow kitchen wall above a wood counter. From the table you see the repeated lines move left and right. The small ink spots stay close when you stand near the sink.
