About this work
Grand Bouquet of Mimosa 1942 shows a tight bunch of yellow flower heads against a soft ground. Moise Kisling paints each stem with quick strokes, so the blooms read as a mass first and then as separate stems. The brushwork feels direct and unhurried.
The print comes as a fine art piece, and the frame edge gives the picture a clear boundary. You can choose white, wood, dark wood or black. White keeps the yellow bright. Dark wood draws the eye to the flower heads.
In a hallway above a narrow bench, the yellow flowers catch the light from the door. From the far end of the hall you see the whole bunch at once. Up close the paint strokes show their speed.
