About this work

Grid Twenty-Eight

Grid Twenty-Eight - 1970 shows a measured field of repeated marks.

The work belongs to the systematic painting practice of the nineteen seventies, where order and repetition hold the picture together. A fine art print set in a frame with a back panel carries the layout without a glossy shine.

The matte surface lets the greys and the white space stay quiet under a lamp. On the landing wall near the staircase, you notice the steady rhythm of each band as you walk past.
