About this work
Hero And Leander (to Christopher Marlowe) [rome]
A classical myth unfolds in scribbled arcs and loops. Hero And Leander (to Christopher Marlowe) [rome] is Cy Twombly's homage to a tragic love story, where crayon and pencil dance across the canvas.
The white ground is a stage for cobalt and ochre, where scribbles become waves and crosshatching hints at hidden depths. The energy of the artwork is palpable, with each mark telling a part of the story, a visual poem that invites contemplation and wonder.
This poster brings a touch of the Mediterranean to any space, ideal for a study or a quiet corner where stories and art are cherished.
