In the Studio shows a built-up surface of paint where the studio space merges with the marks on the sheet.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. You read the broad gestures across the room, then the small ridges of paint when you stand near it. Frank Auerbach worked by layering paint again and again until the surface held its own shape.

The white frame gives a clean line around the busy paint, so the edge stays firm without taking over the picture. It fits above a kitchen counter where morning light lands on the thick paint and the white frame keeps the busy surface from feeling crowded.
