About this work
Indian Writhing - 1977 sets a dark curved line against a pale ground. The line bends and folds across the sheet, a slow gesture made in paint.
Betty Parsons often left paint marks visible on the surface. This fine art print uses a matte paper so the dark shape stays flat and the pale tone does not shine under a lamp.
A metal hanger is fitted to the back so the print goes straight onto a nail. It sits well on the wall above a low reading chair in a bedroom. From the bed you notice the bend of the line first, then a small shift in tone along it.
