About this work
Intake 1964 by Bridget Riley puts a row of narrow horizontal bands across the picture. The bands shift in grey tone from one side to the other. Each band runs flat and even, with no visible brush stroke. The optical effect comes from the steady change in tone between the lines.
This fine art print arrives with a metal hanger fitted to the back. You place it straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame is needed. The surface is matte, so the grey tones stay even and there is no shine under a lamp.
It suits a study wall near a desk. From the doorway you see the full row of bands. When you stand closer you notice the even edges of each band and the steady change from one tone to the next.
