Jar With Flowers — Fine Art

Jar With Flowers - 2001 places a simple jar against a back plane in a warm red and green range. The flowers lean across the top. The shapes hold their own space. Aldemir Martins works in this folk modern way, keeping the picture direct and plain.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame in dark wood gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. That wood edge matches the warm red of the jar and keeps the green leaves from drifting off the sheet. You see the picture first, then the frame.

On a kitchen wall above the stove, the jar reads as a quiet object near the light. From the dining table you notice the red bloom against the back plane, and the dark wood frame lines the view.
