/BIG/Untitled Shoetree series — Fine Art

Jay DeFeo built slow, dense surfaces where paint gathers into a solid form. Jay DeFeo/BIG/Untitled Shoetree series hints at that method, with marks that seem pressed into the sheet instead of brushed across it. The work grows out of her long habit of layering and waiting.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The print sits inside a frame with a back panel, ready to hang when you choose that option. The flat backing keeps the paper steady, and the frame adds a clean edge around the image.

On a hallway wall where traffic passes by every day, the heavy marks hold your eye as you walk past. From the kitchen doorway the shapes read as a single block before you step nearer.
