L`oranger

L oranger - 1954 shows a layered grid of thin lines and small colour patches. The marks seem to shift as they cross, building a sense of depth on the sheet. Maria Helena Vieira da Silva worked with these kinds of overlapping painted lines and soft divisions of space.

The picture is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The frame holds the sheet steady, and the printed lines stay clear without extra shine on the surface.

On a kitchen wall near the morning light, the grid reads as a quiet pattern while you wait for the kettle. From the table you see the small changes where the lines cross.
