Lamp 1916 — Fine Art

Lamp 1916 by Juan Gris places a lamp beside a few flat colour planes on a plain ground. The object sits near the centre, with clean outlines around each part. The mark making stays close to the surface, so the picture reads as a measured study of a simple form.

The fine art print sits in a white frame that gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. The white finish keeps the light areas open and left the darker parts of the lamp shape without muddying them.

It fits a kitchen wall above the cooker, where the lamp shape holds its own against the bright tiles. From the doorway you see the whole lamp and the flat ground behind it.
