Lattice — Fine Art

Lattice by Sam Gilliam uses a grid of crossing lines that hold the eye. The painted bands overlap in a loose way.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The open gaps between them give the picture room to breathe. Sam Gilliam built his colour field paintings around stretched canvas and washes of paint. This print keeps that layered feeling on paper.

The metal hanger on the back fits onto a single nail, so the print goes up on the wall without a separate frame. It fits a kitchen wall above the table. From the doorway the crossing lines read as a simple pattern, while the small shifts in tone show when you stand near the counter.
