About this work
Le Pardon - 1946 shows a scene of people gathered after a service, drawn with the cool colour sense of Charles Lapicque. The eye enters on the figures in the middle and rests there, with open space on either side. The marks stay loose and the paint covers the sheet in uneven patches.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame is needed. For this image, the matte surface keeps the blue and grey tones even and the hanger holds the sheet flat against the plaster.
In a narrow hallway, the soft paint tones sit calmly on the wall beside the front door. You notice the figure shapes first and the open edges later, when you pass by each morning.
