About this work
A mountain ridge rises against a wide sky in this composition. The eye starts near the peak and settles on the empty space below. Looking towards Mount Adams from Mount Hood shows two high peaks with open ground between them. Childe Hassam handled the scene with quick painted strokes and a bright outdoor feel.
The fine art print uses a matte paper so the sky stays flat and the paint marks do not shine under a lamp. A frame finish can follow the room, a light frame on a dark wall or a wood frame beside wooden furniture.
It sits on a bedroom wall above a low bed. From the doorway you see the ridge line first, then the pale sky above it. Morning light comes from the side and leaves the paper surface quiet.
