About this work
Love Poem by Hans Hofmann (1962)
A romantic entanglement of color and form. Love Poem is the essence of a love letter as Hofmann’s emotional voice is carried in his brushstroke. The heart of the piece begins with the color blue and ochre. He strings us along lines of embracing ochre and red, dots of cobalt blue, and vibrant cerulean. Hofmann guides the viewer across the canvas, presenting us with a journey, communicating a story of love. The dance of colors and shapes create an expressive mood. In a bedroom with soft lighting, this poster opens the emotional dialogue of the room.
