Love Story — Fine Art

A single story line moves across the sheet in Love Story - 1998. The marks sit in a wide field with open space beside them. Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri used this kind of line to carry a narrative across the ground. The eye follows the path from one end to the other.

The fine art frame in white gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. That white edge holds the line shapes without pulling the eye away from the field. The surface stays matte, so the marks read softly under indoor light.

In a bedroom, the line sits low on the wall above the bed. From the doorway you notice the long run of the story line first. Step closer and the small breaks in the mark appear.
