About this work
Mamelles 1991 shows a pair of soft rounded forms standing close on a plain ground. The image comes from the late twentieth century print practice of Louise Bourgeois, when she often returned to body parts and memory. The shapes sit near each other and the space around them feels quiet.
Our fine art version uses a matte sheet so the grey tones stay flat and do not shine back under a lamp.
It hangs on the kitchen wall above the table, where you see the two shapes from across the room and the small changes in tone when you pass by. In the morning light the upper edge of the forms catches a thin bright line.
