A single blunted oval sits on the paper as the main mark in Mandorla Form. The shape uses one flat tone set against a clear ground.

The line holds a steady pressure across the curve without fading. Ellsworth Kelly built this kind of form by laying colour in solid planes and keeping the edge sharp. You can read the mark as a simple study in shape and tone.

The fine art print keeps the flat tone even so the oval reads clearly on the paper. A dark frame on a pale wall lets the oval sit without pulling the eye away. You notice the steady curve from a few steps back, then the plain field around it fills the view.
