Mediation by Gerhard Richter uses thin layers and quick hand marks across the sheet. The method is one he has used for many years. You see broad bands of grey and blue with soft edges and no sharp outlines. The picture stays quiet and does not push forward.

A fine art print runs on matte paper so the grey tones stay soft under a lamp. The frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. Choose white for a clean line or dark wood for a stronger border.

In a study the picture hangs on a side wall near a desk. From the chair you notice the slow change from one band to the next. The light comes from a small lamp on the desk.
