Military Hospital — Fine Art

Military Hospital by Maurice Utrillo shows a plain building with grey walls and a quiet street in front. The paint is laid in thin layers with small marks breaking up the surface. This scene fits with other Paris streets and buildings the artist painted over the years.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The white frame gives the picture a clean edge that holds the pale stones without pulling the eye away. A wood or dark wood frame would sit heavier on the image and make the soft greys feel flatter.

On a hallway wall with a single bulb overhead, the building reads as a solid block of grey while the small marks show only when you stand near the picture.
