About this work
A painted metal form hangs from thin wire arms in Mobile 1934 by Alexander Calder. The shape tilts above an open field, and the wire lines cross at different heights. The open space around the form holds the eye.
The fine art print sits on a pale wall where the wire lines stay clear. A light frame keeps the metal forms separate from the wall and the dark tone stays soft.
It works on a bedroom wall near a lamp. From the bed you notice the wire lines first, and the metal form reads small against the empty field.
