No.11 - 1963 by Mark Rothko shows stacked colour fields that blur into each other. The top band is a muted orange and the lower band is a deep maroon. The edges are not sharp. From across the room the two bands read as one solid block. Up close the colour shifts in small patches.

The work is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. When the ready to hang option is used it arrives assembled. The matte surface keeps the orange from turning glossy and the maroon stays even under a ceiling light.

It sits on the dining room wall near the end of the table. You notice the orange first, then the maroon below it. The two bands hold the room together without looking busy.
