No.301 - 1959 presents a quiet arrangement of colour bands stacked across the sheet. The lower field holds a deeper tone, and the upper one sits lighter over it.

Mark Rothko worked in this way across his career, letting the tones meet with soft boundaries instead of hard lines. A fine art print keeps those shifts readable on paper. The frame finish you choose changes how the edge sits against the picture.

White gives the bands room to breathe on the sheet. Dark wood pulls the eye back from the top band. You see the slow change of tone from the hall before you reach the door.
