About this work
Number 29 1950 by Jackson Pollock is built from lines that cross and overlap on the sheet. The paint runs in thin streams and gathers in small pools, leaving a web of black and white with a few spots of red and yellow. The marks move in every direction without a clear centre.
The fine art print keeps the thin paint lines sharp, so the pooled spots read as they do on the original sheet. A dark frame against a pale wall lets the white areas stay open and lets the black runs stand out without glare.
It suits a hallway wall beside a wooden bench. You pass it each morning and notice the crossing lines first, then the small red marks near the lower edge when you pause by the coat rack.
