About this work
Ode to the Bievre 2007 0 shows soft blue and grey washes on a pale ground, with thin drawn lines that feel like a river scene. Louise Bourgeois often used printmaking and drawing to hold memory and the body in the same image.
This fine art print keeps the pale tones quiet on matte paper, so the blue stays flat and the pencil lines read clearly without shine. A white frame gives the picture a clean edge that holds the soft colour without pulling attention away.
On a hallway wall near a shoe rack, you see the broad blue band first, then the thin lines when you pass it on the way out.
