About this work
The work Ode to the Bievre 2007 1 by Louise Bourgeois uses the print method found across her late practice. Soft shapes sit on a clean ground. The marks stay even and the image reads as a quiet study rather than a loud picture.
A fine art print carries the drawn forms without changing them. The frame finish follows the room, so a light frame sits on a dark wall or a wood frame goes beside wooden furniture. You see the same even tones on the paper as on the original drawing.
It hangs on a hallway wall where the light comes from one side. From the door you notice the broad shapes first. Closer up you see the small even marks and the clean white space around them.
