About this work
Offrande de la terre I - 1961 opens on a field of layered marks and washes. The ground holds darker bands that cross the sheet, with thin lines threading through the paint. Alfred Manessier worked in this post war French abstract style, building passages by hand on paper.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The print arrives ready to hang with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy.
A hallway wall with a single bulb above shows the crossing bands from the doorway. The thin lines catch the light first, then the darker passages come into view as you step closer. The hanger keeps the sheet level without a frame getting in the way.
