Painting 139 — Fine Art

Painting 139 by Luis Feito presents broad strokes of colour laid over a flat ground. The surface holds reds and blues mixed with black, set in a loose grid. The shapes sit close together and overlap at the edges. Luis Feito worked in abstract painting and used thick paint to build these layers.

A light frame on a dark wall lets the reds keep their weight, while a dark frame on a pale wall holds the blues. The fine art print sits a little above head height so the marks read without glare from a lamp.

On the landing between two doors, the bold colours catch the eye before you turn the corner. From the top step you see the dark blocks and the lighter gaps between them.
