About this work
Painting I 1957 by Milton Resnick shows broad colour bands laid across the sheet. The eye meets the surface without a single centre, and the weight sits in the lower half. Empty air sits above the marks. The work follows the Abstract Expressionist practice of a large gesture on a flat ground.
The print on fine art paper keeps the painted look without a glossy finish. Matte paper holds the thick paint strokes and lets the colours read plainly on a painted wall. You can pair the frame with a wood table or a concrete shelf so the object fits the room.
You can hang it along a narrow landing wall where the light comes from one side. From the steps you see the colour blocks, and up close the paper surface shows the matte grain.
