About this work
Pastoral Rhythms 1927 shows a field of small marks and wide colour patches that step across the page. The marks sit in a row and the colour spots shift from one tone to the next. Paul Klee worked with simple signs and a flat ground in this Bauhaus period.
The fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. The paper surface stays flat so the colour patches hold their edges and the small marks stay clear from a doorway.
On a stairwell landing with a plain wall, the row of marks reads first from the bend in the stairs. From the kitchen doorway you see the wider colour patches and the thin signs between them. The metal hanger keeps the print straight on the wall.
