About this work
Phenomena Sherman Vortex - 1991 shows a painted field built from sweeping strokes that move in a slow curve. The marks shift in tone as they turn, leaving a band of pigment that fades from one shade to another. Paul Jenkins worked with fluid paint that spread across the page in broad gestures.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The paper is matte, so the moving tones stay even and there is no shine under a lamp.
It fits a narrow wall in a home study, set beside a desk. From the doorway you see the curve of the painted stroke, up close you notice the slight change in tone where one band meets the next.
