About this work
Pompey's Head
A head floats in a sea of gold. Paul Jenkins' Pompey's Head is a study in contrasts, where a single figure commands attention amidst a radiant expanse. The simplicity of the subject belies the complexity of its surroundings, creating a focal point that draws the viewer in.
The golden background is not merely a backdrop but an active participant, its luminous surface interrupted by the stark silhouette of the head. The interplay between the dark form and the glowing field creates a sense of depth and dimension. The contrast is sharp, yet the overall effect is harmonious, a testament to Jenkins' mastery of balance and composition.
This print finds its place in a quiet study or a serene bedroom, where its contemplative nature can be fully appreciated.
