About this work
Potato House Kartoffelhaus 1967 shows a small building set among rows of vegetable plots. The picture uses mottled colour patches and scattered dots, a method Sigmar Polke used often.
The shape of the house is simple, with the fields reading as blocks of tone rather than detailed plants. You get a fine art print that arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw.
No separate frame to buy. The matte paper holds the uneven dots without adding shine, so the patches stay flat and the dots keep their rough feel. It works on a kitchen wall near the sink, where the small building shape reads clearly from the table and the dotted ground stays quiet under the overhead light.
