About this work
A single bold red stroke runs across the sheet in Red Painting Brushstroke 1965. The mark is thick and even, with a sharp black outline on one side. The rest of the ground stays open and plain.
The fine art frame finishes in white, wood, dark wood or black, and the frame edge sits straight against the red band. That clear border keeps the stroke from fading into the wall and gives the picture a firm outline on the wall.
In a hallway with pale paint, the red line catches the eye first when you walk past. From the far end of the corridor the band reads as one solid mark, and near the frame you see the black edge on the side.
